Trade Scholarships for Ages 16-20

The Optimist Club of Reno Scholarship Program offers six (6) $2000 scholarships to students enrolled in northern Nevada recognized trade schools.

Applicant Qualifications:

▪ Be at least sixteen(16) years of age and not older than 20 years of age
▪ Be a legal citizen of the fifty (50) United States
▪ Currently enrolled in a trade school or CTE recognized program in a high school.

Applications must include:
▪ On-line Scholarship Application

▪ Official Copy of (current) School Transcript▪ Applicant Photo
▪ Nomination from a CTE teacher, employer, counselor or school administrator

College Scholarships for 8th Graders

The Optimist Club of Reno offers six (6) $3000 college scholarships to students intending to enroll in northern Nevada institutions of higher education. .

Applicant Qualifications:
▪ Be thirteen (13) years of age
▪ Be legal citizens of the fifty (50) United States
▪ Be currently enrolled in a Nevada middle school in the 8th grade

Applications must include:
▪ Scholarship Application
▪ Recommendation letter from a teacher or school administrator
▪ Student 700-800 word essay on the
"How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me"
▪ Official Copy of School Transcript
▪ Resume of Awards, Extracurricular Activities and Services
▪ School Picture
