Meeting Location and Date Change
Beginning Monday, August 17, 2009, the Optimist Club of Reno will be meeting weekly, at noon, at the Gold N Silver Inn.
The Gold N Silver Inn is located at 790 W. Fourth in Reno. The phone number is 775-323-2696.
In order to meet there, we had to change the day from Tuesday to Monday.
To those who don't know where the Gold N Silver is, it is off I-80 W and Keystone. from I-80, turn South onto Keystone and left onto 4th, it will be a couple of blocks off Keystone. The Gold N Silver is where we have held our annual Installation Dinner the last few years. We look forward to seeing you there! You and a guest are always welcome! Evening meetings have been canceled. Also, we will not be meeting on September 7th, 2009 due to Labor Day holiday and Sept 14th (Air Races).
3rd Annual Fun Sunday
The 3rd Annual Fun Sunday was held July 19th, 2009. It was a rousing success. Thank you to everyone who participated and attended this annual event for the schools of Sun Valley.
Annual Installation Dinner
Has been scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2009 and is to be held at the Gold N Silver. Cocktails 6-6:30 pm, dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. Installation to follow.
RENO OPTIMIST’S TENTATIVE CALENDAR
FOR AIR RACES PARTICIPATION
Another year of Air Races mania is rapidly approaching! Some changes have already taken effect and it will be interesting to see what future years hold in store for the Reno Optimists. For now we will focus our attention on what needs to be accomplished to make this years event a great SUCCESS as has been witnessed by previous years. If you can help out in any way it will be greatly appreciated. Frank Shields (co-president 2009-10 322-1599), Robert Esperance (co-president 2009-10 356-8759) and Ron Errico (972-0553) have undertaken the task of overseeing the project this year. Check out the tentative schedule to see if you are available to offer a helping hand.

At the last luncheon meeting (08/17/09 Gold N Silver Club) it was surmised that the last Reno Optimist’s Newsletter was created sometime in Fall 2008. This newsletter is a quick submission for the purposes of updating Reno Optimist members and interested organizations. It will be more cost-effective if we can e-mail this newsletter but will still do a USP mailing for those who don’t bond with a computer on a regular basis. Also, the newsletter format will be updated.
